Biography

Markus Miesenberger, born in Linz, studied voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Professor Robert Holl und Professor Sebastian Vittucci (Opera, Oratorio, Song). He also attended such renown Universities as the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Anton Bruckner Private University to study Violin, Baroque Viola and Violin Pedagogy with such Professors as Bruno Steinschaden, Ernst Kovacic and Michi Gaigg. He graduated in 2006 and 2007 receiving Master of Arts and Magister artium degrees.
Markus Miesenberger has given numerous performances as violinist and chamber musician throughout Austria, as well as in Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Spain and in Switzerland. As soloist Markus Miesenbergerperforms at such festivals like the Styriarte, the Carinthischen Sommer the Musica Sacra Linz, the Brucknerfest Linz, the Brucknertage St. Florian, the Toujours Mozart at the Salzburger Residenz, the Schlosskonzerten Eckartsau, the Inntöne Barock and the MA Festival. He appears in many renowned concert halls only to mention the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Linzer Brucknerhaus, the Stephaniensaal in Graz, the Palais Schwarzenberg in Vienna, the Helmut-Liszt-Halleand Hall and the Concertgebouw in Bruges (Belgium).

Mr. Miesenberger's recent opera engagements have included 'Die Kluge' (Carl Orff) and 'Die Fledermaus' (Johann Strauss) at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, 'Tapferes Schneiderlein' at the Taschenoper of the Viennese Museums' Quarter,  Anthony / 'Sweeney Todd' ( Stephen Sondheims) at the Linzer Landestheater, 'Alex Brücke Langer' (Giovanni Verrando) at the City Theater in Bolzano,  'Campiello' (Herwig Reiters) at the Neue Oper Wien, Camille Desmoulins / 'Danton's Death' (Gottfried von Einem) with the Neue Oper Vienne at the Museums' Quarter in Vienna.

Markus Miesenberger has worked with conductors like Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Paul Angerer, Uwe Theimer, Alois J. Hochstrasser, Walter Kobera and Miklós Harazdy (Hungarian National Opera). He also made numerous Radio and CD recordings, as a member and soloist of the ensemble Ars Antiqua Austria. In 2011 he was awarded the Franz Joseph Aumann Preis for the discovery and innovative interpretation of the barock music at the International H.I.F. Biber Competition in St. Florian (Austria).
